Dear Neighbor and Rio Verde Foothills Property Owner,

This is an invitation to join the Rio Verde Foothills Alliance. We are a local non-profit organization that provides a host of services to property owners in the Foothills area. One of our key services is the publication of a bi-monthly newsletter providing unbiased, factual and relevant information on a wide range of issues and events that have a direct impact on our area, our taxes, and our quality of life.

We also sponsor local activities to enhance our enjoyment of our little part of the world.Dues are a mere $10 per year and include many benefits. Register now, and your membership will extend through December 2009!

To join, complete the included application or register and pay via credit card online at www.rvfalliance.org. The only requirement for membership is you own property in the unincorporated area of Maricopa County between 136th St. and 176th St, bordered on the north and east by Tonto National Forest, and on the south by McDowell Mountain Regional Park.

We hope you’ll join us! Specific Alliance activities include:
Liaise with local agencies to stay up-to-date on area growth and development Issues such as:

• School district-related issues including elections, legislation, & the recent lawsuit
• State and County agencies and National and State Forest agencies
• SRP expansion plans to increase reliable electrical service to the Rio Verde Foothills
• Fire Protection: Provided legal description, district map, and list of all parcels for the Impact Statement
• County Assessor’s elimination of open range grazing property tax status
• MCDOT road enhancement plans and helping to identify corners where street signs were needed
• National Forestry Service projects and changes
• McDowell Sonoran Land Trust projects and changes
•FAA regarding low flying aircraft

Community Service Events:

• Annual snake training clinic for dogs, where dogs are trained to avoid rattlesnakes
• Roadside cleanups, 4 times each year along 2 miles of Rio Verde Drive
• Guest speaker forums, on current hot topics. Past guest speakers include:
  - Central Arizona Project—ground water
  - Rural/Metro—fire protection
  - Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office
  - Maricopa County Flood Control
  - Maricopa County Department of Transportation—road maintenance, dedication,     etc.
  - Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, Air Quality Division—dust     control legislation
  - Maricopa County Air Quality Department—dust control legislation
  - McDowell Sonoran Land Trust
-   Arizona Department of Agriculture—open range issues
-   Southwest Wildlife—living safely with local wildlife

Social Events:

• Halloween Howl, an annual family Halloween party
• Annual Spring Picnic family social
• Foothills Families (formerly Moms & Tots) to increase potential for ongoing    interaction among families

Communicate news and facts to members of the Alliance:

• Launched the Alliance website to help keep members involved & informed   (www.rvfalliance.org)
• Publish newsletters each Feb, April, June, August, October, and December with   relevant articles

Foothills Families is a great way to meet other people who live in the Rio Verde Foothills area who have children close to the ages of your children, especially babies and preschoolers.   Foothills families hosts periodic activities for moms & their tots as well as Moms’ Hour Out get-togethers.  In addition, beginning October 1st, we will send email reminders/notices to Foothills Families members.

We also have the names of a few babysitters!  If you can babysit, please complete the babysitting portion of the Foothills Families form to place your name on our babysitter list!

You cannot obtain information from our Foothills Families unless you are also participating in it, and only members of the Alliance may participate.  To register with Foothills families, either fill out the online or mail in form below.
